Easy Rider II, Day 5, Zero (rest) Day, 3/21/22

Yuma Days Inn staffers Pamela and Arnolfo

After listening to the forecast for wind gusts of up to 50 mph today, I called an audible and am taking an unscheduled rest day in Yuma.

It’s supposed to be nicer tomorrow. I don’t need to be in Austin to meet Marisol until April 19. So I need to burn a few days before that anyway.

I have no big plans. I’ll hike around Yuma a bit, take some naps and sample the fast-food offerings in the area. Eat, sleep and ride.

Arnolfo, one of the Days Inn staffers, offered to let me use his car to see if I could find a new buff at an area store, after hearing that I lost mine in the motel’s washing machine. What a nice guy, eh? I think one of the reasons I like bicycle touring is that I meet so many really nice and generous people on my rides.

I am glad I postponed my tour start by two weeks, or I’d be in Texas by now, where severe weather—and possible tornadoes—are in today’s forecast.
